The Many (Many) Bags of Kim Kardashian
I’ve been waiting a long time to do this one, and finally, The Many Bags of Kim Kardashian has arrived. The controversial reality star’s bag collection is easily the biggest one we’ve ever dug through, and you might be a little bit surprised by what we found: a lot of fairly conservative choices among the seventy-plus bags we found, many of them used repeatedly over the span of years.
“Kim Kardashian” has practically become a synonym for the excessive vacuousness of fame, but when you get down to it, Kim seems to both really enjoy her handbag collection and choose its contents wisely and with considerable care. She also seems to buy a lot of her bags herself, instead of receiving endless freebies and carrying whatever brands will send her. Hermes very famously does not give freebies or discounts to celebs, and Kim has most certainly spent plenty of her wealth on the acquisition of little (and big) orange boxes. Time and again, I found bags she’s used in the past couple of months popping up in paparazzi pictures from 2009 and 2010, which is a much more judicious use of her handbag backlog than many of us can claim. I’ve never been a Kardashian hater (or a Kardashian lover; I am mostly ambivalent), but after spending a few hours putting these photos together, I wouldn’t mind having a cocktail with Kim. Or looking through her closet, at the very least.
